Ian Burke (British, b.1955) A charming original watercolour on paper painting by Yorkshire based artist and printmaker Ian Burke. Titled 'Montmartre' and features a Parisian cafe corner with figures. Signed lower right with title and date of 1991 to verso. Housed in a wooden frame behind glass.
Ian Burke was born in Saltburn and grew up in Redcar before studying Fine Art at Newcastle University. Having completed a Master's at Goldsmith's College London he established a career in teaching art at schools including Queen Catherine's School, Kendal, Barnard Castle School and Rugby School. He was the Drawing Master at Eton College for twenty years until December 2021. Ian continued to devote himself to his own practical work throughout his teaching career, producing a series of one man shows and group shows. He exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy Summer Shows and won several national prizes.
Ian now devotes himself to producing paintings and prints in his studio at home on the North Yorkshire Moors.
