Star Lot: Walter William May RI (b.1831 - d.1896). A beautiful 19th century antique Walter William May watercolour on paper sketch / painting. Features a typical WW May maritime scene with sailing boats and an expansive sky. May sells well at auction with similar works fetching into the early hundreds at auction.
Housed in a vintage gilt frame with artist information to verso.
Known as Captain Walter William May, he was a marine painter in watercolours painting coastal scenes in England, France and Holland. An example of his work is held at the Norwich Museum. Exhibited a number of works at the NWS, RA, and RBA.
