Star Lot: A fabulous original antique watercolour on paper painting by the Scottish artist William Kellock Brown R.S.A., R.B.C., R.S.W. Features a Scottish landscape scene of a gentle stream flowing through a mountainous valley with a dense forest in the background. A lone figure stands on the water's edge, looking up to the mountain. Rendered in short subtle brushstrokes creating a depth of detail visible in the foliage in the foreground. A delicate palette of pastel tones evokes a calm and serene atmosphere. Initialled bottom right and housed in a original antique Chippendale frame. Brown has a substantial auction history with his oil works selling in the high hundreds to thousands.

Alexander Kellock Brown (b.1849 – d.1922) was a Scottish painter of landscapes and brother of the sculptor William Kellock Brown. He painted in oils and water-colors and exhibited frequently at the Royal Scottish Academy exhibits between 1871 and 1922. There is a video of this lot on our Tic Tok.
