Super Star Lot: Gerry Marjoram (Irish, b.1936) A brilliant very large original 'Gerry Marjoram (Irish, b.1936)' oil on board painting. Features a realistic and expressive serene Countryside scene with lilac mountains and autumnal coloured fields. Rendered in Marjoram's loose and impressionistic brushstrokes portraying a sense of movement. Portrays a muted earthy colour palette with gentle burst of colour to reflect the scene. Marjoram characterises a subtle blend of colours with indigo blues, coral pinks and yellows. Signed lower left. Housed in an elaborate gilt frame with complementary linen matting. With 'Combridge' framer's sticker to verso.

Gerry Marjoram is a well known Irish artist with works fetching into the mid hundreds at Whyte's.

Born in the Liberties area of Dublin, Gerry Marjoram was educated at Francis Street School and subsequently studied art at the National College of Art under Maurice MacGonigal (q.v.) and Sean Keating. Since 1970 he has exhibited frequently in Dublin and Galway, particularly with Combridges Fine Art, Dublin, the Waldock Gallery, Blackrock, and the Lavelle Gallery, which he opened in 1988 in conjunction with Eoin Lavelle, Alan Kenny (q.v.), and Tony McNally (q.v.). His work is in private and public collections worldwide, including the Irish Embassy in Prague. He presently makes numerous painting trips to Connemara and the west coast of Ireland.
