Star Lot : A charming original watercolour and gouache on paper painting by the esteemed Irish artist William Bingham McGuinness (b.1849-d.1928). Shows a farmstead with windmill and ivy covered farm house in an autumnal setting. Signed bottom left and held in a vintage frame. William Rodman & Co. framer's sticker to verso. McGuinness has an excellent auction history with works selling in the mid to high thousands at Whyte's.

William Bingham McGuinness was a landscape painter who began his career as an architect, exhibiting architectural designs at the Royal Hibernian Academy. It was during his apprenticeship that he began taking painting classes at the RHA where he discovered his passion for painting, travelling to Dusseldorf to pursue further study of the profession. When he returned to Dublin he devoted his time fully towards painting, exhibiting with the RHA and the Royal Academy in London.
