Star Lot : Two large and very heavy solid African carved wooden sculptures of a female and male bust. Both carved from African blackwood or mpingo. Wonderfully stylised facial features with full rounded lips and large almond shaped eyes, giving great symmetry to the face. Male figure has a fantastically textured beard through fine adz work. The female figure has a wonderfully smooth finish, with hair texture delineated by incised ridges. Both pieces are excellently crafted and in very good condition.
