MM: 33cm x 33cm including frame.
Con Campbell was born in 1946 in County Tyrone and later moved to Belfast during his childhood. His first major work was exhibited in the Ulster Museum in 1972. Throughout his career, Campbell has repeatedly returned to depictions of animals, with a particular fascination for horses and dogs. Campbell travelled around Ireland in order to study the physiology and movement of horses, with such attentive detail reflected in his work. Typically a painter of animals, during the Troubles Campbell’s focus shifted and he began to produce a number of works depicting conflict through the eyes of children. In the 1980s he was commissioned to paint several street murals, demonstrating a versatility across medium and style. Campbell’s work has been exhibited throughout Ireland.
