Star lot : A fine example of an antique African tribal Tanzanian Makonde Lipico helmet/mask. Inhabiting the southeast of Tanzania and the northeast of Mozambique are the Makonde, divided into matrilineal clans, each one comprising several villages. They survive economically from farming and cattle rearing. The mask is used in initiation ceremonies, serving as expressions of the moral code. There is a video of the lot on our social media pages on Facebook, Instagram and tic tok.
