Star lot: An incredible and very heavy antique tribal hand carved African wooden sculpture depicting a crouched male figure with enlarged head and angular facial features, carved beard, wide shoulders and a narrow torso with a hole carved into the naval. His hair is fashioned from woven cord hanging loose on his face. He wears a beaded necklace that carries a bell on its end. Possibly a Songye Nkishi sculpture but the seated pose is indistinct. Good weight to this piece, possibly carved from mpingo blackwood.
