Star Lot: A magnificent antique 19th century oil on canvas painting titled "Old Cottages near Dartmouth Devon," featuring a traditional rural landscape scene of an endearing country cottage nestled amongst the thick forest, with babbling stream running right of centre. Wonderfully achieved, rendered in fine detail in subtle brushstrokes in an intense palette of earthy browns, lush greens and sepia tones. Signed indistinctly bottom right (L. Glendoning?) and housed in an ornate gilt Chippendale style frame.
