William Perring Hollyer (1834-1922) was a painter born in Dover, Kent, the son of Joseph Hollyer, an Heraldic Painter. William Hollyer specialised in animal paintings, particularly Highland cattle pictures beloved of the Victorians. He appears not to have exhibited at all in any of the recognised venues of the day. He was the father of Eva Hollyer, Maud Hollyer and Gregory Hollyer. Examples of his work can be found in Derby Museum and Art Gallery, Hepworth Wakefield, Rotherham Art Gallery, Warrington Museum and Art Gallery and Williamson Art Gallery.
