Grothe-Neumann was born in 1940 Dortmund Germany. She studied art and psychology at Dortmund University and graduated in both subjects. For several years she worked as a lecturer in an Adult training institute. Later she turned back to art and made it her sole profession. In 1983 the artist and her family moved to the West Coast of Ireland. Brigitte established her own art studio in Westport Co. Mayo in 1986, now market lane.
