Rendered in an impressionist style with wonderful texture in the dynamic brush strokes. Signed bottom left and housed in a high quality wood and gilt box frame with museum glass. Yashwant Shirwadkar was born in Mumbai in 1951. In 1977 he received a diploma in art, specializing in drawing and painting, in Maharashtra. Since then Shirwadkar has been prolifically exhibiting his impressionistic landscapes. Oil on canvas is this artist's favourite medium, although he has painted several watercolour works as well. Yashwant Shirwadkar is extensively traveled and has held solo exhibitions of his work in Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi, Varanasi, Cochin, France, Germany, London, Luxembourg, Belgium, Nepal, Switzerland and the United States of America. In 2000, he held his 50th one-man show at the Art pilgrim Gallery in New Delhi. At the same time he has participated in group shows too both in India and abroad. His works are also regularly included in domestic and international auctions of Indian Art, breaking records at auction houses like Sothebys.
