Star Lot: Two fantastic original antique watercolours on paper by the esteemed Victorian landscapist Thomas Miles Richardson Junior (1830-1890). The first is titled "Rheinstien" and the second is titled "Elfeld on the Rhine (Sunset)". Both are rendered with wonderful delicate detail and soft colouring, and are in great condition for their age. Signature on the verso. His watercolours sell fantastically at auction, ranging from high hundreds to the thousands.

Both works have been re framed, however the original verso signature along with a note on where the composition was based has been preserved on the new frame. The son of the Newcastle landscape painter of the same name, Thomas Miles Richardson Junior was trained by his father, and was arguably to become even more successful than him. In 1838 he published a large folio of twenty-six plates entitled Sketches on the Continent, a series of views in France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Holland, etc. from sketches made during a tour in 1837, with eleven of the plates lithographed by himself.
