Star Lot: A fabulous twin pair of Victorian Portraits of Charles Creiche and Adeline Creiche (Née Guignard) dating to 1869. Records reveal this was a marraige portrait of both, and intended to be displayed together. Thus the two figures face eachother on their respective canvases, in their best dress, hand on dark leather armchairs. Inscription on the verso states the sitters names, and the addition of Pinxit suggests one of the subjects was also the artist, although it is unclear whether it is Charles or Adeline. The works are rendered in a fine and detailed manner with subtle variations of tone. Each housed in gilt frames.
