Star lot : A fabulous large antique original oil on canvas painting by the artist Arthur Stanford featuring a rural landscape scene of a fisherman perched by a lakeside, silhouetted by a tall mountain range in the distance. Beautifully rendered and well observed with lovely detailing in the foliage and mountains, particularly nice is the cottage secluded amongst some thick bushes on the lakeside. Signed bottom right and housed in an elaborate antique gilt frame.
