Star Lot : A charming original Donna Crawshaw (English, b.1960) oil on board painting showing a mother hen with her newborn chicks. A tender scene rendered in fine detail, in a rich palette of sandy yellows and red browns. Signed bottom left and housed in an elaborate Chippendale style frame. Crawshaw is a well known animal painter whose work fetches into the early hundreds.
Donna Crawshaw was born in Woking, Surrey UK in 1960. She has gained an enviable reputation as a leader in the field of animal paintings and has won a number of prizes and awards for her work. The foundation of learning for her art came from her father who encouraged her from a very early age and later at school where she excelled in art related subjects and sold her first painting to a teacher. She now lives on the edge of the Brecon Beacons in Wales, and is particularly well known for her distinctive paintings of animals and rural scenes. Donna’s choice of media includes acrylics, watercolours and pastels.
