Star Lot: An antique original Sydney Mary Thompson (b.1847 - d.1923) watercolour on paper painting dating to 1875 titled "Magnolia Tree Watsonia at Rowallane (The Last Bloom)." Delicately rendered in a soft palette of yellow greens. Hand signed, titled and dated in pencil bottom left. Housed in a modern black wooden frame.
Sydney Mary Thompson (1847 – 16 July 1923) was an Irish geologist, botanist and artist. Thompson won many prizes for her art and was a member of the Belfast Ramblers' Sketching Club and the Belfast Art Society, of which she became patron in 1921.
