Star Lot : A super rare 1943 halfcrown Irish coin featuring a horse. These were struck in normal circulating quantities but not issued. In the early 1950s the coins were returned to the mint for melting because the Central Bank decided to change the metal from .750 silver to Cupronickel. The rarest of Irish coins.
These coins were written about in an Irish Times article https://www.irishtimes.com/life-and-style/homes-and-property/fine-art-antiques/rare-irish-1943-half-crown-likely-to-make-2-000-in-dublin-auction-1.2340327
