Star Lot: A fantastic large original oil on canvas painting by South African artist Lourens Kay and dated to 2013. This striking piece depicts a group of school children in class with blackboard in front of them. The artist successfully captures the different personalities of the subjects, with some attentively focused on the geometry lesson, others more concerns with joking with their friends.

Kay is a self-taught artist born 1973 in South Africa. His work includes a wide spectrum of subjects including people, animals and landscapes. His preferred media are oil paint and pencil and he has had group exhibitions in Cape Town and around the Western Cape. His subject matter is primarily figurative studies of South African locals.
