Star Lot: An enchanting very large original James Gilna (Irish, contemporary) raw pigment on zerkall paper painting titled "201.15" dating to 2015. Features an abstracted scene of rich blues on a highly textured background. The intensity of the blue palette is highly effective, giving the scene a water like appearance, rippling and moving under the surface. The application of light and shadow is expertly achieved, creating wonderful dimension and perspective in the composition as the eye swims in and out of the blueness. Gilna is a multidisciplinary artist originally from Dublin, Ireland. Having professionally trained in a variety of media, he now works primarily with digital and sound media. He currently works and lives in Germany, where he co-founded XYZ Technical Arts Service GmbH, a provider of virtual art services to film and media production companies. Gilna's work is held in various private and public collections including the OPW, the IFI, the National Irish Visual Arts Library, the National Maritime Museum of Ireland and many more.
