Star Lot: An incredible vintage original oil on canvas painting by the artist Cecil Stanton Kind (1900-1982). Features a fabulously rendered scene of an autumnal forest, with a quiet lake framed by full, tall trees. In an abstracted manner giving emphasis to the dappled light pouring through the leaves blurring the forms and simplifying the colours.

Stanton Kind lived most of his active painting life in South West Essex and much of his work reflects the countryside of that area. Further subjects were obtained on his holidays in the UK and Europe. He first joined the Chigwell Art Society in 1959 and sold at their exhibition of 1960. He was elected to membership of the Essex Art Club in 1964 and continued to exhibit with them. In 1969 he became a member of the St. James's Art Society for the Deafened who also held their exhibitions in the Royal Exchange. In 1978, he moved to Tring, Herst and continued to paint and exhibit actively. The vigour of his painting the bold use of colour and the modernity of his style, especially in oils, was surprising in one of his age.
