Star Lot : A lovely antique original ink wash on paper painting showing a rural scene of farm workers stopping for a brief chat at a crossroads as the cattle make their way to the water for a drink, while a man and his dog take a rest by the side of the road. Rendered in short brushstrokes, with lovely texture achieved in the foliage and hedgerow. Signed J. H. C. bottom left and dated to 1837. Housed in a vintage gilt frame.
