Star Lot: A Giovanni Battista Piranesi (Italian engraver, b1720 - d.1778) antique lithograph circa 1800-07 titled 'Veduta dell' Anfiteatro Flavio, detto il Colosseo'. Amazing detail to this piece originally engraved in 1747. It depicts the architecture of the famous Colosseum in Rome in typical 18th century context with visitors to the site in the foreground and other passersby. A legend in the lower margin either side of the title. provides information corresponding to features of the Collosseum and other structures in the background labeled A to M. From a large estate collection. Mounted on board with some foxing.
