Marcel Augis (pseudonym of H. Dupont) was a French artist active during the 20th century. A number of WW1 French and Belgian artists, including Marcel Augis, trod the battlefields of the Western Front during 1914-1918. They recorded the devastation and the areas containing Allied troops. Many of these etchings/aquatints were sold to soldiers returning home after the war or subsequently purchased on the many battlefield remembrance tours which took place in the 1920s and 1930s.
