William Forsyth (1854-1935) was an American Impressionist painter, best known for his landscapes, still lifes, and portraits. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Forsyth studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy before spending time in Europe, where he was influenced by the French Impressionists. His work is characterized by vibrant color, dynamic light, and textured brushwork, often using impasto to give depth to his subjects. Forsyth's subjects ranged from flowers to urban scenes, capturing everyday moments with a modern, expressive approach. He was an influential figure in the Cincinnati art scene and contributed significantly to the development of regional American Impressionism.
