Star Lot: A wonderful limited edition (5/25) Micky Donnelly (Irish, b.1952 - d.2019) copperplate etching titled 'The Big Stick'. Features fabulous texture to the plate echoing the gnarled blackthorn walking stick. Signed M. Donnelly bottom right and dating to 1988. Housed in a wooden frame behind glass. Donnelly is a well renowned artist with a good auction history, his works fetching into the mid hundreds.

Micky Donnelly studied at University of Ulster’s School of Art graduating with a BA and MA. He became heavily involved in the early 1980s with the Artists Collective and Queen Street Studios, and was a founder member of Circa magazine of contemporary art. Donnelly exhibited his paintings in Europe, America, Japan, New Zealand and Mexico and his work also features in collections around the world, including the European Parliament. He received many awards and was elected a member of the Aosdána.
