An attractive original oil on canvas painting by the Irish artist John O'Donoghue (b.1930). Features a view of a barren landscape scene of cottages nestled amongst the rocky surroundings, reminiscent of the Burren, co. Clare. A highly textural piece rendered in cool grey tones. Paint has been applied and scraped away, the use of graphite pencil scratched into the surface. Signed indistinctly bottom right and housed in a gilt frame. Slight water damage only to matting. O'Donoghue has a strong auction history with a similar work selling at Whyte's.
MM: 37 x 33 cm in frame.
