Star Lot: A stunning antique original watercolour on board titled "Street Scene, Paris" by esteemed artist William Bingham McGuinness (1849-1928). Shows an elegant gothic cathedral flanked by tall buildings topped with Dutch gables. Rendered delicately in light tones with detail picked out in pencil. A fabulous example of Bingham's work, signed bottom left. Housed in a gilt frame with protective mat glass. McGuinness has an excellent auction history with works selling in the mid to high thousands at Whyte's.

William Bingham McGuinness was a landscape painter who began his career as an architect, exhibiting architectural designs at the Royal Hibernian Academy. It was during his apprenticeship that he began taking painting classes at the RHA where he discovered his passion for painting, travelling to Dusseldorf to pursue further study of the profession. When he returned to Dublin he devoted his time fully towards painting, exhibiting with the RHA and the Royal Academy in London.
