A fantastic original limited edition (42/50) lithograph by the famous Welsh artist Ceri Richards titled 'La Cathedral Engloutie' and dated to 1959. The imagery is inspired by Debussy's 'Cathedral Engloutie' and is some of the most lyrical and imaginative of any British artist of the period and some of Richard's best known works. He does excellently at auction, with his original works fetching in the thousands.
Mm: 66 x 90 cm in frame.
Richards was very much a Welsh artist and he found his expression through links with poetry and music. In 1936 he took part in the International Surrealist Exhibition in London. After the Second World War his painting drew inspiration from the large exhibition of Picasso and Matisse at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 1945.
