Roybal's work has been offered at auction multiple times with similar works fetching $400 at auction.
Artist, Joyce Roybal, sometimes listed as J. or James, memorializes the naive purity of childhood by painting whimsical children playing musical instruments or participating in sports. His character studies are commonly called Puffy People, and they're reminiscent of the work of Bolivian painter, Graciela Rodo Boulanger, a possible inspiration to Roybal when he was 18.
