Star lot - An original oil on canvas painting in an Abstract Expressionist style by the well regarded artist Charles Brady. Depicting a still life of books in a pink and red colour palette on a white ground. Signed by the artist ''Brady'' top right.
Charles Brady was born in Manhattan, New York to Irish parents and he studied in New York at a time when abstract expressionism was coming to the fore of the American art world. He appeased a curiosity in his ancestral homeland by ultimately settling in Ireland in 1959. Brady was the subject of a major retrospective in the RHA in 2001 and his artworks are held in collections at IMMA His artwork sells consistently well at auction with similar pieces selling for €2200 in DeVeres and Whytes.
