Star Lot : A stunning original limited edition (72/75) etching titled "Begonias" by the Irish artist Ruth Brandt (1936-89), dated to 1974. This delicate study features a potted begonia plant with daintily rendered flowers and detailed leaves. Brandt has a good auction history, her etchings selling at Whyte's for €220.

The daughter of Muriel Brandt RHA (1909-1981), Ruth Brandt won acclaim primarily as a printmaker and as a lecturer at NCAD from the mid-1970s onwards. She exhibited mainly with other women artists, including Barbara Warren RHA and Anita Shelbourne ARHA.
