Jacqueline Jones was born at Hackney, London in 1961, daughter of Raymond Jones and his wife Mary née Patten, who married at Hackney in 1954. After a brief time as a window dresser, at the age of 16, Jacquie was drawn to Newmarket and two years later obtained her first proper job in racing, working for trainer Ian Balding (born 1938) with her last outing as an amateur jockey in 1984. A self-taught artist, Jacquie has been a professional artist since 1982 and is best known for her equine paintings. Highly contemporary and original, her compositions are created in a loose, energetic, and expressionist style and she sketches and paints with a natural and effortless ability and has a distinct way of portraying horses, capturing their fluid movement with her brushes. Her paintings are in the collections of the Dubai Royal Family, the British Royal Family, the Marchioness of Tavistock, and the late Sir Henry Cecil.
